Serial Number 91410 Calibre 44-40 Winchester.
Manufactured 128 years ago in 1898. A beautiful historical piece, with signs of many years of use. This iconic, highly collectable Winchester was designed by John Moses Browning as a lighter and more compact alternative to the earlier model 1873. This example has a 24 inch barrel.
Between 1892 and 1932 more than 1 million were manufactured. Steel parts on this example are lightly pitted commensurate with age (see photos). There is light scratches and some age related marks.
The model 1892 gained fame as a reliable firearm during the closing parts of the American frontier. Annie Oakley used one in her performance with Buffalo Bill’s wild west show. John Wayne used the 1892 in numerous films. This has to be one of the most iconic leaver action rifles ever made.
